Dionysus was inspired by the hybrid creatures created for my solo exhibition ‘Supremacy of the Zombie Bunnies’. These mutated beings began in painted form and I took the opportunity offered by the Wild Sovereign exhibition to experiment with something new: the hybrid doll sculpture. Like the creatures they represent, these sculptures continue the journey of becoming and transforming, taking my art to a new place. The doll sculptures are very much a product of wild sovereignty. They represent beings becoming something beyond human through hybrid transformation. Like the methods I use to create them, they embody the new, change, and adventurous exploration and experimentation.
