Mary Mangos is a Melbourne-based abstract artist whose work explores the emotional language of colour, movement and texture. Inspired by nature’s rhythms, light, and organic forms, she creates expressive paintings that evoke calm, renewal and a sense of sanctuary.
Working primarily with acrylics, fluid techniques, and layered finishes, Mary’s process balances intuition with refinement, allowing each artwork to evolve through subtle shifts in colour, depth and movement. Soft transitions, luminous tones and occasional metallic elements create visual complexity while maintaining a sense of harmony.
A former Psychologist and author of Finding Your Well-Being, Mary brings a deep understanding of the relationship between environment and emotional experience. Her art reflects a belief that visual surroundings influence how we feel, and that colour can support wellbeing, reflection and restoration.
Mary recently exhibited five artworks in the group exhibition Transformations – Art by Artists Living with Long Covid at Shopfront740 in Melbourne. Her work has also been exhibited in established Australian exhibitions including the Camberwell Art Show and Whitehorse Art Show.
Mary’s paintings invite viewers to slow down, reconnect, and create spaces that feel nurturing, uplifting and alive with possibility.
