George Ironside is a multidisciplinary visual artist, illustrator and animator working across painting, stop motion, 2D animation, illustration and installation. With a background in graphic design, George has also spent years as a muralist, curator and gallery director, operating an independent gallery in Berlin and curating more than 250 exhibitions and creative events.
George's practice is driven by a lifelong fascination with vintage cartoons, graffiti culture, nature, horror, folklore and pop art. Moving between mediums, George creates work that is playful, nostalgic and often a little strange.
Rather than having one fixed style, George has one way of thinking — driven by curiosity, humour, storytelling and a desire to explore ideas through making. Whether through a painting, illustration, animated film, mural or installation, each project finds its own form.
