Sharlie is a mixed-media artist, based in Meanjin, interested in exploring the power of women and place through paintings inspired by mundanity, motherhood, introversion, and a healthy fear of small talk. She often includes nostalgic elements to reference the inner divide we have between a longing for home and the past versus a longing for adventure and the new. Sharlie's paintings are often heavily textured or layered – generally with many earlier paintings hidden underneath, which speaks to the various versions of ourselves that exist hidden beneath our current appearance.
