My passion for oil painting on canvas was sparked in a Melbourne art class in 2009, and it has since become my favorite lifelong hobby. I find inspiration in the contrast of scale- painting wide- reaching scenery as well as the delicate glisten of a water droplet on a close-up bloom.
My creative process involves a blend of personal observation and curated inspiration. I often use my own photography to ground my work in lived experience, while also utilizing Google searching images to study the diverse beauty of landscapes beyond my reach. To bring these visions to life, I utilize impasto textures for rugged mountain peaks, chiaroscuro to create a luminous glow in moonlit seascapes, and smooth blending for delicate floral details.
Working primarily in oils, I focus on rich textures and a vivid play of light. Whether I am using s diptych composition to show the fluid energy of Koi or the raw power of a lightning strike, my goal is to evoke a sense of wonder.
Every painting is an invitation to pause and appreciate the world from a new perspective.
