Kava. my name is Megan Corby (Henry). I am a self taught Noongar artist from Bunbury WA. I consider myself an emerging artist officially practising for 2 years. Previously I worked in the arts industry as an Indigenous Arts Development Officer for Bunbury Regional Art Galleries and City of Bunbury. During my time in this position I worked alongside the community to deliver art development, workshops, exhibitions and events. This gave me the ability to develop a good business accument that assists me in my small business.
My artwork is contemporary. Inspired by the beautiful South West region and my own upbringing here. I truly love our Boodja and the coastal areas. The stunning colours are reflected throughout my work. My work ranges from peaceful earthy tones to vibrant playful designs. I believe that artwork should make the viewer feel drawn to it further giving them the opportunity to read the story behind the work.
In my short time as an artist Ihave had some really great opportunities. My highlights bring my first solo exhibition and a collaboration with Ashdene Ladelle Group. I feel extremely blessed to share my work and my stories.
I have work with companies and galleries to design artworks. I offer custom designs and commissions however also enjoy completing freestyle designs.
I am blessed to have a strong connection to the South West region. Growing up in such a beautiful place constantly inspires me. I enjoy sharing stories from my youth and exploring stories from our ancestors.
