Kira Simpson is a Kamilaroi artist based in Narrm - Melbourne.
Since launching her art career with her first solo exhibition - 'wii-ma-li' lighting the fire - in 2024, Kira's artistic practice has since evolved into a variety of genres including abstract, pop art & surrealism. Using mixed media in the form of everyday items such as furniture & musical instruments , Kira expands the boundaries on what it means to be sustainable by breathing new life into second hand items through her work. Much of Kira's art style is influenced by artists such as David McDiarmid, Yayoi Kusama & Reko Rennie, overlapping bright and bold colours with storytelling, self-care & activism.
Currently, Kira is in the works of starting an online co-op for First Nations creatives - using the skills & tools she has collected along the way on her artistic journey to assist mob set up their business online.
