My name is Roberta, known artistically as Kiokio. I’m an Italian artist living and working in Melbourne, with a background in architecture and design. Over time, my creative path has shifted toward visual art: painting, drawing, and collage; where I explore emotional landscapes through a feminine lens.
My work is intuitive. I begin with color, texture, and layers, letting instinct lead the way. Slowly, female figures emerge dreamlike, quiet, and emotionally charged. Through them, I explore strength and vulnerability, fragility as beauty, and transformation as a continuous, inner process.
A recurring element in this series is the use of circular forms, cut-outs from my own discarded sketches and paintings. Reassembled with care and intention, they become part of each new piece, creating rhythm, texture, and symbolic depth. These circles might feel like magnifying lenses revealing inner layers, or light, poetic bubbles floating between memory and imagination.
Travel and observation have shaped my view of people and the quiet ways we change one another. Art, for me, is a space to express, reflect, and connect, where the invisible becomes visible.
