Julie Walker is a Melbourne based artist who has been creating art for more than fifteen years. She studied visual arts in 2016 and after experimenting with various mediums her love for collage emerged.
A big part of Julie’s artistic process is collecting and categorising objects that form a basis to her works. Traces of these objects come through in Julie’s art, as she uses vintage images to create with. It’s all a process of cutting ideas from something and then reassembling these ideas to make something new.
“The combination of my life experiences, relationships and love of fashion collide with my inspiration from vibrant colours and unique patterns, resulting in a merging of these influences in my works. I create intuitively, no piece is ever pre-planned. When I create my art it feels like a meditation of sorts, it is totally calming and addictive.”
Julie has exhibited regularly in various group exhibitions, exhibited solo and taken part in a local Open Studios group. She looks forward to continuing to exhibit and pursue her passion of creating collages.
