Josie Pepe Garofalo is a Melbourne-based emerging artist whose work celebrates colour, form and the quiet beauty found in everyday subjects as well and the elegance of light and shadow.
Creativity and love of cooking have been a constant thread throughout Josie’s life. In her younger years she worked as a music teacher with Brashes Music school, sharing her love of music and artistic expression with students. She later built a successful career in banking, where precision, discipline and attention to detail became part of her professional life.
As she approached retirement, Josie returned to her long-standing love of visual art.
What began as a personal creative exploration quickly developed into a passionate pursuit of painting and artistic experimentation.
Working primarily in acrylic and mixed media, Josie enjoys exploring contemporary compositions that bring a modern edge to classic subjects. Her work often features still life and figurative elements, transforming familiar forms — such as fruit, botanicals and cocktails and form— into bold, expressive compositions.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Josie continues to develop her artistic voice while building a growing body of work for exhibition and private collections.
