Dr Jaz MacDonald (she/her) is a creative human with a passion for making things, performing, sharing impactful ideas, and connecting in a meaningful way with others.
Jaz has an obsessive relationship with writing and reading. She has a PhD in psychology and works as a full-time researcher. She has published 20+ peer-reviewed journal articles and about 15 practice guides for professionals supporting children and families. Her areas of expertise are trauma exposure and reactions, mental health, and professional burnout.
Jaz is the creator and host of two podcasts. The first called, Psych Attack, focuses on interesting ideas in psychological research and practice. The second, My Mate In…, is a passion project dedicated to exploring great places to eat and drink.
Jaz was born in Orange, NSW, and grew up in Wagga Wagga (Wiradjuri country). After a stint in Sydney, she demonstrated her impeccable timing by moving to Northcote in early January 2020 – it might be the Stockholm Syndrome speaking, but she doesn’t plan on leaving Naarm any time soon. Jaz lives with her best friends, a human called Tim and a doggo called Emmy.
