Jane Tovey is both an artist and an environmentalist. Her art career began at Chelsea School of Art in London where she studied fine art. She has experimented in many media – sculpture, painting, printmaking, ceramics, graphic design and fashion design. When she arrived to live in Melbourne she fell in love with the landscape and quickly developed a passion for the forests. She studied environmental science and law which formed the basis of a successful professional career in environmental policy. She is now loving life on the Surf Coast, a perfect location where forests meet the stunningly beautiful coastline. Her new home inspired Jane to start a new creative journey into landscape photography, a perfect way of becoming immersed in the beauty and fragility of nature while being inspired to create. She is now experimenting with composite digital art inspired by her own perception of the natural world and her imagination. She uses a combination of photography, digital painting and graphic design tools to create digital art inspired by nature.
Jane is committed to living a low impact life at home and in her art. She is on a mission to minimise her use of plastic and CO2 emissions from travel. Her garden is full of local native plants that attract wildlife from tiny little skinks that scurry in the undergrowth to Red Wattlebirds and impressive Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos that feed on the Banksia cones. Her art studio is totally solar powered. Her artworks are printed by professional fine art printers in Melbourne using high quality materials and sustainable business practices.
