Helena Marina is an Australian and European visual artist based between Melbourne and Europe, working primarily across painting and mixed media.
Her practice explores memory, psychological tension and emotional fragmentation through layered imagery, fragmented spaces and surreal distortion. Moving between representation and abstraction, Helena creates psychologically charged works that examine the unstable boundary between inner experience and outward appearance. Her paintings often hold opposing states together control and collapse, beauty and rupture, familiarity and unease without resolving them into a single interpretation.
Helena is influenced by surrealism, personal narrative and the artists she has studied and worked alongside throughout her creative development. She holds a Bachelor of Design in Visual Arts and a Diploma of Visual Arts, with her practice shaped by university communities, collaborative mural projects and Melbourne’s street-art culture.
She has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions across Melbourne and has contributed to large-scale public artworks with muralists, councils and community organisations.
Helena has also worked as a street-art tour guide at Blender Studios, a Melbourne artist studio and street-art hub, where she researched and delivered tours exploring the city’s street-art history and contemporary culture. These experiences across studio practice, public art and artist-led communities continue to inform work that moves between intimate psychological spaces and shared public environments.
