Carmel Jenkin art has autobiographical elements drawing on episodes of love, loss and self-doubt, which were the impetus behind her first forays into art as a form of self-guided therapy. Carmel's early works referenced the loss of her mother and this would later evolve into an exploration of health and body shape anxieties, bringing more tension into the work.
Now a mother herself, Carmel continues her obsession, using oil, acrylic, ink and charcoal to create her cherished collections of women, each telling her own story through line, curve, texture and shade.
