I create artwork to promote my own mental health and that of others. I use text and images within my own personal visual format to express and create a sense of well-being, harmony and positivity.
My paintings combine the two processes. I only use text when it either works alone by itself, or enhances the meaning of an image. Painting communicates parts of me that would otherwise go unexpressed. I need it to maintain my well-being.
I rarely start a painting with a plan. I just apply the medium and the process takes over. My inspiration comes from my inner, rather than my outer, world. I have no interest in depicting nature, or realism. I try to depict my emotions and my headspace, as directly and faithfully as I can.
Art for me is essential to my spiritual, mental and physical well-being. It connects me with the world individually and socially. It hopefully reflects and promotes harmony and positive values.
