Asmita Tamhankar

Asmita Tamhankar is a Melbourne-based architect who has developed her art practice since the pandemic. Her architectural career spans over twenty years across Mumbai and Melbourne. Her artistic practice encompasses acrylic paintings—often combining three-dimensional elements, clay sculptures, and restored small furniture pieces. Keen observations of people, nature, life experiences, and introspection inspire her work. She approaches each piece with complete focus and patience, never rushing to finish within a specific timeline—believing that is when the magic truly happens. She explores dualities such as authentic versus artificial and perception versus reality, blending an aesthetic sensibility developed through architecture with natural artistic flair. Ultimately, she invites viewers and collectors to connect with her work through their own personal lenses.
