Anne is an emerging self-taught multidisciplinary visual artist working with textiles. Originally from the Netherlands, now living on Birpai country. Her practice primarily focuses on sewn and woven artworks. Her approach to her art is influenced by a concern for the natural environment, motivating her to predominantly use sustainable and foraged materials, selecting natural fibres and utilizing waste products such as onion and avocado skins, to create her own natural dyes. It’s very important to her to live and create consciously. Her work is very deliberately crafted and the time it takes to create a certain artwork is a slow, considered and meditative process. She explores the world around her, social issues & pop culture through contemporary textured pieces often using multiple techniques (applique, embroidery, weaving, macrame, woodworking, pattern drawing, spinning).
