Akshita Sundaresh is an emerging, Melbourne-based artist who migrated from India as a toddler in 1991. Her artistic journey started at The Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School where she was encouraged by her art teacher, Mrs Wanda Baulch.
Working as a Public Health Physiotherapist for the past 10-years, art became her creative outlet during the pandemic and with support of her family, she launched her small art business in April 2023, creating bold, bespoke, feminine pieces. Akshita enjoys exploring different mediums and techniques, and believes in infusing joy into art, captivating the audience with vibrant abstracts, intricate illustrations and bold textured artwork. She draws upon her Indian heritage and Australian upbringing with the aim to inspire women to explore and showcase their talents in the arts in a contemporary manner, and represent the few immigrant women of colour in the visual arts scene in Australia.
Akshita exhibited at the Affordable Art Fair Melbourne 2023, curated by Gioia Wall Art and the Stories to Tell Exhibition curated by Melbourne Artists Inc. She also has public acquisitions through the Knox Council at the Knox Medical Centre and Bendigo Bank.
