Waiting for the change explores the physical and emotional intensity of a summer day, where colour, light, and temperature seem to dissolve into one another. Saturated purples dominate the surface, layered with subtle traces of orange and blue that flicker like heat held in the air. Soft transitions and vertical drips suggest movement and evaporation rather than fixed form, creating a sense of atmosphere rather than landscape. There is a quiet horizon running through the work—felt more than seen—inviting the viewer to pause in that suspended moment between stillness and intensity. This painting captures not a place, but a sensation: the glow, weight, and lingering warmth of heat absorbed and remembered. Part of a small body of new works titled ‘Held in the Atmosphere’ -Paintings exploring stillness, transition, and emotional weather through layered colour and softened form.
