THIS diptych of Wilsons Promontory’s Squeaky Beach is my final piece of 2024, marking a significant stage in my journey of connecting with my inner spirituality. The two panels work together to convey the layered complexity of both the landscape and my own evolving sense of self. The vibrant reds, deep blues, and glowing skies create a powerful dialogue between grounding and expansiveness, reflecting the harmony and tension of spiritual growth.
As I painted intuitively, I allowed shapes and forms to emerge naturally, and within the layers, subtle images of faces and abstract figures began to appear. These hidden elements feel like whispers from the soul, a quiet acknowledgment of the unseen connections between the external world and the inner spiritual journey. The duality of the diptych mirrors this balance, with each panel representing a different aspect of the journey—grounded in the present yet open to the infinite.
The contrasting textures of the rocks, the depth of the ocean, and the fiery sky evoke the contrasts within us—stability and change, peace and energy, the physical and the spiritual. This diptych reflects the culmination of a transformative year, a piece that embodies not only the beauty of Squeaky Beach but also the layers of thought, emotion, and spiritual exploration that have defined my work. It feels like a fitting conclusion to 2024, a moment to reflect and embrace this stage of my connection to my inner spirituality.
