This painting of The Grampians’ iconic Balconies in Victoria reflects my interpretation of the dramatic and otherworldly beauty of this natural wonder. The contrasting red mountains and deep blue-green rock formations create a vivid interplay of colours that draw you into the landscape’s powerful energy. The bold geometric shapes of the foreground cliffs emphasize the strength and timelessness of the Balconies, standing resilient against the vast backdrop of rolling mountains and expansive skies.
As with much of my work, I wanted to simplify the details, focusing instead on the forms, colors, and emotional impact of the scene. For me, this painting captures not only the physical grandeur of The Grampians but also the sense of mystery and spiritual connection the place evokes. It’s an invitation to look beyond the surface and explore the layers of meaning in nature and within ourselves. This piece is a tribute to the timeless beauty of The Balconies and the inspiration they bring.
