Work 8 in the Astronaut Barbie Ending Rape Culture Series Emerging as a response to the Barbie Movie, the ‘Astronaut Barbie and Ida Ending Rape Culture’ 2024 series tells the story of an imagined a world where Astronaut Barbie, an intersectional abolitionist feminist, has the power to make real change. Barbie’s mission is to create a planet free from Rape Culture. Using new technological advances, she brings Ida B. Wells back to work alongside her. Barbie and Ida engage a team of respectful relationships / sex educators to support astronauts to critically reflect on and change the attitudes and behaviours they have brought from earth that may support rape culture. This exhibition is Barbie, Ida and the respectful relationships / sex educators’ story.
