Lauren’s work focuses on creating intimate and emotionally charged portraits and figures. The Weavers #2 is from a recent collection of drawings and paintings of closely cropped compositions of figures in relation. Lauren’s work pushes the boundaries between realistic and abstracted forms, reducing parts of the image to large shapes, and using intense colour to bring energy to faces and flesh. The close cropped nature of the compositions emphasises volume, while also evokes a feeling for the viewer of being “too close”, creating an intense connection between viewer and subject.
