Sailing out of Port Douglas you get this stunning view of the ancient mountain range in all its majestic beauty and sheer size. Looking at this beautiful view from the stillness and silence of the inlet at midday is what inspired me to paint this scene, I wanted to capture the sense of perspective and the beautiful array of shades of blue sparkling and shimmering in the summertime heat.
