Flowers show the movement of time as they bloom and close over the season.
The idea for this painting came after a painting exercise at school. We were painting hibiscus and I decided to explore more with adding depth to the petals of flowers. I went home and tried a few different methods until I got to this. I like to include lines in my paintings like in this one. It creates movement, or makes the other elements stand out.
In this painting the seasonal flower has bloomed and fully open. I’ve shown light and dark across the petals showing how the sun shows up the flower. Each petal is similar but slightly different, like real flowers are.
