This painting developed from a straightforward figurative piece about hiding behind masks and veils, and how we present different parts of ourselves.
Once i started painting, a lot of the marks around the figure were spontaneous and instinctive. It took a life of it’s own, and somehow eventhough the masks suggest multiple connections, it reminds that you can still experience isolation and solituted in this “connected” world. How well can anyone else really know you?
