Heading to the Shore is a 96 cm square mixed-media work created using the same process as the accompanying pieces in this series, with hand-painted papers formed from acrylic paint and assembled through careful layering and composition.
The work evokes the quiet pull of the coastline—the moment of transition between movement and stillness, effort and release. Shifts in colour, rhythm, and texture suggest both the physical journey toward the sea and a more internal passage: leaving behind turbulence and arriving at a place of calm.
Heading to the Shore reflects on the idea of return and restoration. Whether read as a simple escape to the coast or as a metaphor for navigating life’s storms, the piece invites the viewer to slow down, breathe, and settle into a sense of grounding and gentle resolution.
