When rain – not sleet – falls as rain and freezes on contact with whatever is in its path, it is called freezing rain. To wake up to EVERYTHING outside being encased in ice is an amazing experience. It brings out the capacity for wonder in human beings. Just once I had this experience in Boston and have wanted to paint it ever since.
