This painting is developed through layered applications of oil paint. Its earthy, tactile surface is inspired by the fire season—scorched trees and landscapes glimpsed through smoke, with embers still burning. A palette of charcoal, browns, greys and burnt sienna evokes the charred landscape, while the brushwork echoes the expressive mark-making of my ceramic practice.
