Inspired by an artwork produced at school when I was in grade 6, Drifting started upside down. A day after I finished it I realised I preferred it the other way around. This was also when I saw the underwater animals emerge in the painting.
Before I started this artwork, I’d received new paints. They had interesting colours that I wanted to test out, as seen here. You can see the blues and greens at the bottom are bolder, I started here and experimented not rinsing my brush as I went. Clearly the colours soften and blend further up as a result. I like the overall effect, the movement and the different ways everybody interprets this painting.
