The collision of order and chaos.
This is an older work, although at first glance it might seem different, my ideas are all here but just not fully formed. At the time of painting my main interest was the mask, having been used for thousands of years for many purposes. They serve to hide of transform identity, allowing new roles and characters. In some cultures the wearer is believed to even become the spirit of the mask, providing a link between worlds. In the theatre masks allow multiple role and then there are festivals such as Halloween. Then also in society masks have had uses like, crime, war, Guy Fawkes, medical and Egyptian Pharaohs. This mask is on one hand set in stone, on the other shattered into hundreds of pieces, this being the paradox of our existence.
