The ‘caffettiera’ was a fixture in most Italian families when I was growing up. The ritual of the morning coffee was something that I witnessed everyday as a first generation Italian Australian. It was not something that I really appreciated as a child, but I look back on it now with great fondness as I recall my parents doing this every day. The modern twist is the red variation on a standard model that was traditionally silver. And now, the caffettiera can be seen in many, many kitchens!
