Bunjilwarra means protected by water, and is the name of the Aboriginal healing centre where I spent 6 months in 2022-2023. This contemporary paintings shows mine and my families journey through hardships and life, and everything on my journey that lead me to going into the Bunjilwarra program, on the top section. On the right of the painting is Uncle Pat, it shows him teaching us, and the other staff and leaders of Bunjilwarra, the Aunties to the left, and Uncles to the right. The smaller row of people are myself and all the other young people who l met in the program. On the left, Bunjil the wedge tailed eagle is pictured. Bunjil is the protector, and has come to be my personal totem. On the bottom shows my journey of strength and success and connection since leaving Bunjilwarra. Through the painting is waterways, Warra means water, and also represents journey and change. This is a digital scan of a painting on canvas made with acrylic paint, watercolour paint and paint pens.
