“Bridget” was created to honour and represent womens bodies through breast cancer, breast surgeries and scars. Breast Cancer impacts approximately 1 in 7 women (and 1 in 600 men) each year across Australia. My grandmother, Dawn, had 3 separate breast cancer diagnoses across 30 years, and watching her battle her body image on top of the battle with cancer inspired me to change the art in our homes and how we view and represent bodies. Bridget as a name represents “strength” and “power”, and I hope this artwork empowers those who see it, and reminds you that all bodies are beautiful and powerful.
