Bewitched by Fascism is a series of three preliminary works by WHA Hunter that explore fascist ideology and tactics in Australia society and how we can resist and counter them. This thematic triptych aims to open up conversations about growing division and the underlying fascist ideology and tactics at play in Australia politics and society. These text based analogue political collages provide a response to the traits of fascist ideology in three ways: • “Tolerating the Intolerable” portrays that it’s not in your head – fascist ideology and tactics are impacting on the us every day. • “Criminalising empathy” promotes how fascist ideology and tactics are being embedded in our society and provides focus for action. • “Growing from the ashes of the colony” offers a projection of what is possible in a world without fascist tactics and ideology. This is work three of a thematic triptych. Each work is an analogue Collage made from old Australian books with characters from Bewitched printed onto rice paper and pasted on.
