‘Grim World’ was shot in Hastings at sunrise, and represents the fascinating mangrove coastline that makes the town so unique. So you think this image is in black and white? Well..think again and take a closer look at the photograph.
‘Grim World’ with ‘The State Of Our Planet’ participated in the #everydayclimatecrisis, a photographic petition on climate change, organised by Hilary Wardough, and tabled in the Parliament of Australia in Canberra in July 2022. 1,247 images from Australian women and non-binary photographers created this very unique visual petition on the climate chaos all over Australia.
‘Grim World’ and ‘The State of Our Planet’ were shown in an ABC news television segment (Canberra) presenting the petition. ‘Grim World’ received a double Bronze Award at the 2022, 360 Photo Awards in the Landscape and Mono categories. It also made it into the first exhibition of the In Focus Women group at the Prince Gallery in Sydney for which it was framed there. Then, I brought it back to Melbourne on a 1980’s train! In 2023, ‘Grim World’ also participated in several art shows: Red Hill Art Show, Hastings Art Show, and in 2024 in the following ones: Sorrento Art Show and Mornington Art Show.
